DYSPLA CHAT
First Sundays of the Month.
Subserdized by DYSPLA CIC and only costs you £5.00

DYSPLA_Chat is a monthly peer-to-peer gathering of like-minded Neurodivergent Creatives. We meet in small groups over Zoom or in-person on the first Sunday of each month, to discuss neurodivergent creativity, current projects and best ways for ND Folk to develope and advance their creative practice.

Join us online on Sunday 4th Jan 2026 at 10:00-11:30am

DYSPLA Chat will host the next edition of ‘In Our Language’ with artist and collaborator Lisa Farrell.

This months topic is on ‘Reading & The Master’s Tools’ and will explore the relationship between neurodivergence, reading, education and power.

Together we will consider how expectations around focus, comprehension and retention shape access to learning and creative work, and how alternative approaches to reading can challenge long-standing barriers within arts education and beyond.

The event includes a 17 min screening of DYSPLA’s new experimental essay film exploring the generative and performative nature of reading, followed by a facilitated group discussion.

We are particularly interested in hearing from artists and creative practitioners whose experiences of reading differ from conventional academic norms.

These monthly sessions are intended for Neurodivergent Creatives

During DYSPLA CHAT the collective provid advice and community to anyone who needs it.

Some talking points inclued:

• How have differences in reading shaped your education and creative practice?
• What shifts when we challenge standard assumptions about what reading is?
• How might arts education change if multiple approaches to text were recognised and valued?
• What creative possibilities emerge when reading is understood as diverse rather than uniform?

The aim of the session is to explore how alternative relationships to text can expand artistic practice and open new forms of agency.

After you RSVP, you will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom Link or venue address with information about this months topic of discussion.

Space is limited to 10 people per session. To register your interest or to ask questions before booking, please email hello@dyspla.com
