DYSPLA_two women
360º filmWhen a Middle Eastern woman falls pregnant, she is forced to admit that her sexuality is a lie. ‘DYSPLA_two women’ is a 360º Artist Moving Image film, funded by Arts Council England and produced by art studio, DYSPLA.
Inspired by the 2018 National LGBT Survey which revealed that 68% of Britains's gay community avoid openly holding hands with a partner in public for fear of a negative reaction from others. Commissioned by Birmingham University Arts and Science Festival, Beatfreeks and supported by the Arts Council England, DYSPLA_two women is a 360º experience set on a train which, in the flash of a daydream, explores how barriers in society block the intuitive desire to connect with another person.

Selected by the BeatFreeks Arts and Science Festival of the University of Birmingham and supported by the Arts Council England, DYSPLA was commisioned by the BeatFreeks Collective to produce this politically motivated VR film for the Festival of Audacity 2019.
“TWO WOMEN lock eyes on a train and play out imagined scenes of intimacy. Time and space merge into a vivid daydream; away from the hostility of their subway seat while they explore their otherness. But who is the architect of the world they temporarily inhabit and can fantasy ever be as meaningful as the reality of feeling?”
